Day 7

(Scripture)

Psalm 51:10-12

Morning Devotion

David wrote these words in the midst of a rough time. He made mistakes and caused pain. Sometimes the worst part of causing pain is knowing that you hurt someone innocent. It’s bad to cause pain on yourself. It’s worse to know that someone else is affected and there is nothing you can do to change it.

What is lovely is that David does not just ask for God to cleanse him but also restore his joy that only comes from God. He did not just want to be cleansed. He also desired restoration. God does not only want to clean us from our ways, but also to restore our relationship with Him. Let Him clean you and restore you.

(Prayer)

Abba! You are the King of my heart. The Ruler of my domain, but sin has destroyed my heart making it unclean. Lord I ask for You to forgive me. I know You cannot abide in a mess, but You can make it clean. So, clean my heart, O’ God, from the impurities and disgusting actions dwelling in my heart. I cannot live without Your Spirit. I cannot live without Your direction and protection. I need You to restore me. I need You to make me new, so You can abide in me and I in You.

Then and only then will I be able to operate with a heart that longs after You and desires what You desire. I will call on You and You will answer my call. You will hear me and give me the desires of my heart – a heart that seeks Your face and is full of Your words. I thank You God for cleaning my heart so I can receive what You desire for me.

AMEN!
