Day 5:

(Scripture)

James 5:13-18

Evening Devotion

James tells us not to sit with sickness, or afflictions. They should drive us to seek for a change. That change comes through prayer and believing. When we pray with doubt, or fear, we set ourselves up for failure. This is why James says to group your prayer with faith. Prayer is the vehicle that takes your request before God. Faith is the gas that helps provide power to your vehicle. Some people load the their prayers with needs but they put no faith in it and wonder why the prayer went nowhere.

God wants to remind us that prayer is lethal when it is mixed with faith. You must believe that God is able to answer your prayers even before you ask Him. Believing that He can do it, speaking that He can do it, and expecting that it is already done is the behavior of the believer that trusts in God. May this be our mindset as we pray!

(Prayer)

Lord of Heaven. You spoke everything into existence. You made man and woman and breathed life into them. Then they betrayed You by trusting the words of a serpent. Through the course of life, man has constantly betrayed You and doubted Your truth, but I have come to say this is not me.

I believe in You and what You said You will do. I believe that You are the same God of yesterday who healed the lepers and discharged the debtors. You are doing the same thing today! I believe that You will answer when I call and pick me up when I fall. I believe! I believe! I believe!

Amen!
