Day 19:

(Scripture)

Psalm 121

Morning Devotion

The enemy of our soul desires defeat for us. There is a look of defeat. Heaving your head down. Nobody who is a victor holds their head down. They lift up their heads as a sign that victory is won. Satan desires us to not function in a position of victory and hold our heads down and function as though we are defeated. When you present yourself as defeated, you begin to walk defeated, talk defeated, and even live defeated. This is even why Jesus speaks of not looking morbid and defeated during a fast. He says to wash your face. We must wash off the look of defeat and lift up our heads!

David speaks of lifting up his head because his help comes from the Lord. It does not mean the battle is over. It is just a sign to the enemy that there is nothing that he can do to cause us to feel or function as though we are defeated. We are children of Victory! Our God is a victorious God so we will forever lift up our heads!

(Prayer)

Oh Lord. You are the lifter of my head. In the midst of problems, trials, and storms, I can feel overcome and lower my head in defeat. But Lord You come, and raise my head up high. You remind me of my position and get me into a habit of constantly lifting up my head, so that I can see you. This morning Lord, I don’t wait for my head to be lifted high. I don’t wait to drop my head in defeat. I lift my head high and I looked to the hills because I know You’re my help. I know You have come to save me.

You’ve come to deliver me.

You’ve come to restore me.

You’ve come to strengthen me.

You’ve come to remind me of Your goodness.

So may my head never fall because I know You have picked me up!

Amen!
