Day 14:

(Scripture)

Psalm 122:1

Morning Devotion

I remember the first time I started my job as a 911 dispatcher and had to work Sunday mornings. It was strange having to miss Sunday services. I felt incomplete. Not because of the ritual, but rather because I enjoy being in the house of the Lord with the saints. The collective praise. The word being spoken. The move of God. I hated missing all of it. I could watch online, but it’s not the same when you are alone.

David mentions the excitement of hearing someone say “Let US go into the house of the Lord”. It’s not just “okay” or “I guess”. He says he was glad! When you look at David’s life you would understand it better. A shepherd boy who was chosen by God Himself to be king. Along the way he was protected, blessed, strengthened, disciplined, and forgiven. He understood the goodness of God. He also rejoiced knowing that he used to be alone in the fields singing praises to the Lord, but now had company to go praise the Lord. How exciting to know someone else wants to praise God with you!

It should be enough to make you glad!

(Prayer)

Thank for another day, Lord God! It is a blessing to live another day for You and I do not take it for granted; especially when it’s an opportunity to worship You together with the saints of God. You have given us the chance to meet this morning and I am glad about it. I do not take it for granted. Lord Jesus, I thank You and I ask You to bless the gathering.

You said that I can ask and I shall receive. I ask that as You bless You also send the fire from heaven to come down upon Your people. Set us on fire for You so we will not be ashamed to worship aloud Your great name. Lord, do not hide this anointing from us today. Do not keep Your fire from us. You said if we ask, we shall receive not just anything but good things because You know what we need and how to give good and perfect gifts to those who ask from You. I ask You to send an anointing.

We need it in order to operate in this week.

We need it in order to function in this week.

We need it in order to live in this week

We need Your fire, Lord!

We need it!

Thank You for answering my prayer!

In Jesus’ name,

Amen!
