BLESS THE LORD
Day 13: Psalm 103:1-5
We say bless the Lord but… What does it really mean to Bless The Lord? It means that we speak well, recognize, and praise Him for His greatness and goodness. In doing so, David says you reach down into the depths of your soul to make this truth a reality. Doing this transcends singing a song or saying good things. It requires us to reach deep down inside, past our feelings, thoughts and behaviors to give God what He deserves. I may be a quiet person, but blessing the Lord calls me to open my mouth and speak the great things of God.
David gives examples of this when he calls the believer to never forget His benefits (vs. 2).
- He forgives & heals you (vs. 3)
- He redeems & crowns you (vs. 4)
- He satisfies & renews you (vs 5)
What does it mean to Bless the Lord? It means I know who He is, who I am, and what He has done to take me from where I was to where I am going. I will NEVER cease to bless the Lord until the day I die. I WILL BLESS THE LORD!!
(Prayer) Lord God! You have been so good to us. You have done more for us than we can ever understand. I thank You for waking me up this morning. Lord, I don’t know what the day will bring, but I know what I am going to bring. I am going to BLESS YOUR NAME in this day that You have made. I am going to show the world that I recognize how great my God is! You are better to me than I am to myself. Where would I be without You? Lord, help me never cease to open my mouth and bless Your name regardless of the moment, or the issue set before me. Give me the opportunity to set the atmosphere for my day by blessing Your name. In Jesus name, amen!
