Morning Devotion
Sometimes prayer is not enough. We can pray and pray and hear nothing. God gives Solomon an answer to this question of why would God not answer a prayer. When sin brings pride into our lives we cannot just stop sinning and think prayer will work. God says that we must humble ourselves FIRST because He resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.
Showing humility allows us to open the gates to heaven. Prayer opens the door to the house filled with God’s blessings and healing. Operating in pride causes the answer for prayer and faith to be HALTED. Additionally, living in sin will cause prayer and faith to be CANCELLED. This is why God told Solomon to remove both. The land cannot be healed with pride and sin still existing in our lives. They must be removed so God can hear our prayers.
(Prayer)
Jesus. If there be any pride or sin existing in us, we ask You to remove it from us. We do not desire to function in pride because our prayer will not work. We do not desire to function in sin because our prayer will not work. May we be cleansed from both so we can call on You with a pure heart and a cleansed mind. While we wait on You to move in our day, we will continue to rejoice and give thanks in Your name for all that You have done. You have been so good to us. We turn to You during this time. You have rescued us in the past, so we believe You can do it again.
We ask that You turn things around in the Gaza Strip!
We ask that You turn things around with our brothers and sisters in Malawi!
We ask that You turn things around in our city!
We ask that You protect those in Florida and heal the land!
We believe You can do it!
